The head of Turkmenistan sent condolences to the leadership of Tunisia in connection with the death of President Beja Qaed Es-Sebsi

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on behalf of the people and the Government of Turkmenistan, as well as on his own behalf, sent condolences to the Acting President of the Republic of Tunisia, Mohammed An-Nasser, in connection with the death of President Beja Qaida Es-Sebsi, the press service of the head of state reported today.

As noted in the message, Beji Kaid Es-Sebsi, being a prominent politician and statesman, did a great job in the name of the welfare and prosperity of the Tunisian Republic.

The head of the Turkmen state conveyed the words of sincere empathy and support at this difficult moment to the family and friends of the deceased, as well as to the whole friendly Tunisian people.

Tunisian President Beji Kaid Es-Sebsi passed away on July 25 at the 92nd year of life. According to MTRK Mir, on July 24 he was taken to a military hospital. The specific cause of death is not called. In recent months, the head of state has been hospitalized several times due to health problems.

Beji Kaid Es-Sebsi became President of the Republic of Tunisia in 2014. Es-Sebsi’s political career began immediately after Tunisia gained independence in 1956. Since the 1960s, he has served as Minister for Foreign Affairs, Home Affairs, Defense and Prime Minister. Prior to the presidency, he was Speaker of Parliament under the overthrown head of state Ben Ali. Beji Kaid Es-Sebsi was the oldest acting president since November 21, 2017, after the resignation of Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe, until his death. Took second place among the oldest heads of state, after the Queen of Great Britain – Elizabeth II. Beji Qaed Es-Sebsi was the oldest acting president of Tunisia for the duration of this position.
