Despite the fact that no cases of coronavirus have been registered in Turkmenistan, the country is systematically increasing its efforts to prevent the entry of this dangerous virus into the country.

Additional control points have been set up around major localities, including the capital Ashgabat. Before entering major cities and towns, the body temperature of drivers or passengers is measured using infrared thermometers. This precautionary measure also applies to passengers on all domestic flights. In public places: airports, railway stations, bus stations, institutions, disinfection is constantly carried out. Public transport is treated with a disinfectant before being released on the line and after a certain time. Awareness-raising activities aimed at preventing infectious diseases are being carried out among the population. In schools, children are taught the importance of personal hygiene, especially hand washing with soap.

The national Committee for the prevention of infectious diseases meets regularly to monitor the situation.
